Why Twinkies, why?

How rockin is it that An Inconvenient Truth won the Oscar for Best Documentary? Wow. I'm turning so LA. At some time w/in the last 7 or 8 months I totally started caring about awards.

Dre picked up some red velvet cake tonight at Blue Plate. SOOOO delish. But I have to wonder - would it be equally as awesome if it didn't have the red food coloring? I may just have to do a secret taste test where I make one cake w/ the red and one without, but exactly the same batter and stuff. Then I present both to my unsuspecting taster (Dre) and ask her to pick a favorite. Oh this could be gooood.

There's some university in Michigan which annually chooses the year's Most Overused Word. I'd like to nominate COUGAR for 2007. Technically it should have qualified in 2006, so now, 2 1/2 months into the new year, it's *really* crusty. Anyway, cougar is the name given to women of a certain age "prowling" for younger guys. I've heard it no less than 40 times in the last few months across everything from commercials (TMobile) to TV shows (How I Met Your Mother). There's even a website devoted to it. Btw, I wouldn't click on that link. It might be p0rn. It looked kinda shady when I clicked. But I digress. The point is, the word is hack. It's earned its place nested alongside "fo'shizzle" and "crib" in the ranks of suburban slang which should never be uttered again. Note: Even using it ironically should be performed with some caution. It's super hard to pull off. Though I gotta say, Jessica in Cambridge could prob be a consultant on this fine skill.

Newsweek, say it ain't so!!! I love Twinkies. I totally wish someone would come out w/ some organic, baking soda-less golden sponge cakes w/ a light and delicious creamy filling.

I think this blog should be renamed FoodSpot. Or maybe TaterTotSpot so that at least I'm still rhyming. Anyway, I'm trying to say I should put a moratorium on writing about food for a little while. I'm accepting suggestions for new, non-food topics.
